“Normality” the power behind oppression and decaying progress!

A picture saying "What is Normal"? |
Since the beginning of human history, as we became more and more structured, we began to have a notion of normality. This normality has brought about a narrow mindset and has created oppression and unjustified biases.
Many of us fail to see how it has molded us into a society without uniqueness, a society in which there is no longer what I need or what is good for me, but what is good for us or our peers.
Yes, we should take care of and respect one another, but we must also not forget that we may possibly only have one life. You need to take care of yourself first if you want to truly help others.Normal does not let us live how we wish but constantly brings distress and horror at the fact that we are different.

The meaning of Katie Reeds quote is that you can not help anyone when you yourself are wounded. |
Due to the intricacy of oppression, many people either have a rudimentary understanding of the concept or reject the philosophy and definitions underpinning it wholeheartedly. Everyone has the capacity to oppress others in a variety of ways, therefore if one wants to avoid hurting other people, it is more important to acknowledge how one's own attitudes, convictions, and behavior may be oppressive.
The term "oppression" refers to a wide range of institutional attitudes, convictions, and behaviors that favor one group more than others. Through the use of dominant power, a history of privilege over the target group, and stereotyped prejudice towards groups that do not fit the dominant "norm," these systems allow dominant groups and people to impose control over target groups.
One of the main forms of oppression is stereotypes. Everybody harbours stereotypes and bias, and most of the time they are advantageous. They can be true perceptions and operate as short cuts for interacting in different circumstances. The problem is that these impressions may not always be true, which can result in attitudes, thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors toward a person that are inappropriate for their character and way of life. Examples of stereotypes can be that all African Americans like watermelon and fried chicken or that Caucasians don’t know how to season their food.
Another important aspect of oppression is privilege. A person's privileges and family history make up their heritage; they were neither chosen nor earned by them. The ability to identify one's own entitlement past and to restrain oppressive ideas, attitudes, and behaviors are among essential skills. Historical occurrences like how African Americans have been treated in the United States over the years are examples of privilege. White European Americans were mostly exempt from slavery regulations; they also had access to land and significant social influence over Black people. Due to historical precedence, these were provided to white European men and women from birth rather than having to ask for them. A person's privileges frequently go unnoticed by those who enjoy them, but those who do not are painfully obvious. For instance, unless a person has personally experienced something, if they have a loved one who is not able-bodied, or if they are aware of their own privilege due to being healthy and able-bodied, it can be common for that person to be unable to comprehend the products and services that are utilized by people who are disabled or handicapped.

Every defense of normalcy necessitates hostility to or even the idea of the "abnormal."
However, what is “abnormal”, non-heterosexuals were and are still considered lower classed citizens because they go against the divine power and the wishes of God, did anyone meet God to know? People with disabilities incite disgust, fear, and other forms of social disgrace.
People might say you’re too weak, too fat, too dumb, too poor, too rich. “Normality” creates a false view of what it is to be human.
It undermines the horror, disgust, and hate that this Earth of ours is filled with, and what every one of us will face, neither old nor young escaping from its claws. It has destroyed I and you; your personality and individuality are capitulated to it.
For those who disagree they have long failed to realize that they are guided by the views of the majority. With the bias and walls of defense against those who don’t fall into the perceived norm such as same-sex couples, sex workers, transexuals, and so on. Nonetheless whether you agree with my belief or not we can all agree that each one of use has at least once followed a group for fear of being left out.
Although they want to believe they are long past the threshold of what is normal, the majority’s rage is an effect of the tyranny of perfection and the cause of dissolved progress.
Nothing is good or evil, black, or white, we need to understand that normal is different for every one of us, it is guided by our experience and past.
We are ever changing, progressing, and regressing. We must always remember that we should seek fulfillment of our own happiness. Be you, be happy, be free. Guide your own path, as nature itself is ever-changing so are you, remember that change and progression is not wrong.
Just as we are born to eventually age. We are also born to progress and change.
When we start to believe that ideas and beliefs should only follow one path, we limit our understanding and enlightenment. Normality has only brought about hate and despair, we need to open ourselves up to change and progression. To progress we must accept other ideas in order to improve our own, as the saying goes nothing is perfect so what is normal?
